Objectives : Laryngeal tuberculosis is a rare form of tuberculosis
(TB). Due to the variety of symptoms displayed, laryngeal TB often
presents a diagnostic challenge for physicians.
Methods: Here, we report on a 43-year-old who presented with a two-
month history of hoarseness; an examination revealed left vocal cord
palsy. During Injection Laryngoplasty, lesions over the vocal process
were identified. The investigation revealed secondary laryngeal TB.
Subsequently, the patient developed deep vein thrombosis.
Conclusions:
Laryngeal TB with vocal cord palsy is a rare but serious manifestation
of tuberculosis. In order to help in the early identification and
treatment of vocal cord palsy, treating physicians should be aware of
the different clinical presentations of laryngeal TB.
