A 37-year-old female presented with a right cervical mass. Physical
examination suggested a submandibular gland (SMG) tumor, and fine-
needle aspiration (FNA) confirmed the diagnosis of schwannoma. Given
the benign nature of the tumor and the patient¡¯s symptoms, intraoral
mass excision was performed. Despite the mass protruding into the neck,
it was successfully removed through an intraoral approach without the
need for an external incision. The tumor was completely excised without
neurological complications. Postoperatively, the patient showed no
functional deficits, and no recurrence was observed during follow-up.
Schwannomas in the submandibular region are rare, and their
preoperative diagnosis remains challenging due to their resemblance to
SMG tumors. This case highlights the importance of accurate
differential diagnosis and demonstrates the feasibility of an intraoral
surgical approach for excising cervical schwannomas with minimal
complications. |
