Osseous choristoma refers to growth of ectopic bone in an abnormal location. Osseous choristoma is rare and has been seen to occur in the head and neck region, with the majority located in the posterior tongue. There is a female preponderance and in literature, patients usually present in their 30s to 40s. This report presents the case of a osseous choristoma in the tongue base of an 22-year-old male who had initially presented with a separate complaint of unilateral sore throat. A tongue base lesion was an incidental finding during examination with nasendoscopy, with patient himself reporting no symptoms. The patient underwent successful surgical excision of the tongue base lesion which returned as a bony lesion. There was no recurrence of the lesion on subsequent examination.
