This case report describes a 20-year-old male who presented with a five-
month history of left nasal dorsum swelling, nasal obstruction, and
watery nasal discharge, which later progressed to mucopurulent discharge
and ulceration of the nasal dorsum. Initial antibiotic treatment
provided minimal relief of symptoms, and a CT scan showed a
heterogenously enhancing lesion occupying the left maxillary sinus and
left nasal cavity. Biopsy revealed extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma
(ENKTCL), nasal type. Immunohistochemistry confirmed the NK/T-cell
origin of the tumor, with CD3 and CD56 positivity. However, Epstein-Barr
virus (EBV) testing was not conducted due to resource limitations. The
patient was advised to undergo chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
ENKTCL is a rare, aggressive lymphoma often associated with EBV,
presenting with nasal obstruction, bloody rhinorrhea, and facial
swelling. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical for improving
outcomes. |
