¸ñÀû: The objective of this study was to develop a tool to measure and assess the training and practice demands of head and neck cancer surgical oncology registered nurses (RN) with 12-18 months¡¯ experience in one university hospital in a metropolitan area of Korea. This tool is expected to enhance the expertise of head and neck cancer oncology RNs, to promote their transition to the proficiency stage after one year of training as novices, to improve nursing practices, and to augment the quality of head and neck cancer surgical patient care. ¹æ¹ý:A: We investigated the training demands and practice skills check list of RNs with 12-18 months of 10 RNs clinical experience in nursing head and neck cancer surgical patients for 30 days from September 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023.B: Upon identifying the training demands, we produced a list of clinical nursing practices that should be strengthened after one year of clinical experience in nursing head and neck cancer surgical patients, and examined the validity and reliability of this list. °á°ú:Results: By examining 10 RNs who were initially hired as new nurses and were stationed in head and neck cancer surgical oncology care for 12-18 months, we found that there were high training demands in the several following fields: Made of 12 categories and 77 detailed educational practice topics. Education needs more than 30% from the 11 categories, and 27 details and retraining is needed in this practice area. We generated a detailed tool list based on these categories. °á·Ð:Conclusions: In order to enhance the assessment and procedure skills of RNs specialized in the care of high-risk head and neck cancer surgical patients, the head and neck cancer care tool should be used to evaluate the RN¡¯s first-year performance and to identify any areas requiring improvement. This tool can be especially useful in boosting the RNs' clinical adaptation in caring for the ¡°difficult¡± head and neck cancer surgical patients. Moreover, by reducing the gap between the training and actual practice, the quality of head and neck cancer surgical patient care can be remarkably heightened.
