Multiple cranial neuropathy (MCN) can be caused by various etiologies,
such as autoimmune diseases, neurovascular diseases, tumor, or
infections. Among the various etiologies of MCN, malignant lymphoma is
one of the major causes of MCN. Anaplastic lymphoma kinase-negative
anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALK-ALCL) is a rare subtype of T-cell
lymphoma which has an aggressive behavior. The rarity of ALK–ALCL leads
to relatively delayed diagnosis compared to other type of lymphoma. We
diagnosed ALK-ALCL simultaneously involving multiple cranial nerves,
bilateral submandibular glands, and stomach within a relatively short
time under the strong suspicion of malignancy based on the initial
findings of physical examinations. We report our experience for
diagnosing ALK-ALCL case in patient with MCN with a literature review. |
