Development of Artificial Intelligence Hearing Aid Chatbot |

¸ñÀû: The patients with hearing loss often seek information and guidance for
hearing aids. To enhance accessibility and provide tailored
assistance, a customized chatbot for hearing aid consultation was
developed, namely ¡°Smail Snail¡±. The Smail Snail was founded upon
the powerful Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (GPT) architecture,
fine-tuned with an extensive dataset of 5,392 patient-generated
questions collected over years of clinical practice. These questions
were meticulously prioritized to address the most prevalent concerns
faced by hearing-impaired individuals. ¹æ¹ý:To speculate the frequently asked questions (FAQ) of hearing aids user
and/or potential user of hearing aids, the text-based information was
gathered through the publicly accessible data in major manufacturers of
hearing aid. The dataset was categorized into selection, usage, and
maintenance. Three AI chatbots, including ChatGPT, generated answers for
21 questions repeated 10 times each. Expert evaluations and patient
preferences were gathered, comparing objective and subjective accuracy
using statistical methods like TF-IDF and Wilcoxon tests. °á°ú:Although the data collection of Smail Snail for Expert evaluation and
patient preference was undertaken, the expected results were suggested.
These results are highly promising, highlighting the potential of AI
customization in the medical field. Customized chatbot proves to be a
valuable tool for providing accurate information and support to hearing-
impaired patients. Moreover, it showcases the ability of AI to enhance
medical services when working in conjunction with experts. °á·Ð:A customized hearing aids consultation chatbot represents an
innovative approach to democratizing hearing healthcare information.
Future work aims to expand the chatbot¡¯s capabilities, improve
natural language understanding, and to foster collaboration between
chatbots and human audiologists for more holistic patient care. |
