¸ñÀû: The aim of this study was to analyse the radiological anatomic
dimensions of the inferior turbinate in patients without deviated
nasal septum and compare to that of the patients with deviated
nasal septum using computed tomography. ¹æ¹ý:The OMU CTs of 90 patients with or without deviated nasal septum
were evaluated(control group 40 patients, deviated septum group
50 patients). The analysis of the CT scans contained the mucosal
and bony length, mucosal width of the turbinate and the anterior
and posterior mucosal overlay. And also evaluated the cross-
sectional area and the type of inferior turbinate bone. °á°ú:In control group, the mucosal length of the inferior turbinate was 51mm and the bony length was 35.8mm. The total mucosal width was 9.1mm. The medial mucosal thickness were 4.7mm(anterior portion), 3.8mm(mid portion), 6.9mm(posterior portion). The inferior mucosal thickness were 3.9mm(anterior portion), 3.4mm(mid portion), 5.7mm(posterior portion). The anterior mucosal overlay was 4.7mm, posterior overlay was 10.6mm. Cross-sectional area of turbinate bone was 0.2cm2. Total mucosal width were significantly different between the groups (concave side> control group> convex side). Medial mucosal thickness of concave side was significantly thicker than that of convex side. Cross-sectional area of turbinate bone on the convex side was significantly smaller than that on the control group. Types of inferior turbinate bone were as follows combined type(45%), lamella type(33%), compact type(22%). °á·Ð:Computed tomography is a useful tool for the anatomic evaluation of
the inferior turbinate. The results of this study may provide
important information when considering the turbinate surgery. |
