¸ñÀû: Sino-nasal mucosal melanoma of the head and neck comprises approximately 1% of all malignant melanomas. Sino-nasal mucosal melanoma is also poor prognosis disease. Despite of poor prognosis, clinical features are not unclear and there were no unified treatment modalities of disease. We aimed to investigate the clinical features and to compare the treatment outcomes of 28 patients with sino-nasal mucosal melanoma. ¹æ¹ý:The medical records of thirty sino-nasal mucosal melanoma patients were reviewed retrospectively. The medical records were reviewed with presenting symptoms, stage, treatment modality and outcome. For the survival rate of disease, Kaplan-Meier method was used. °á°ú:Total 28 patients were consisted of 13 males and 15 females and ranged from 38 to 97 years old of age. Primary symptoms for visiting out-patient clinic are presented commonly with nasal obstruction and epistaxis of 2 months symptom duration. Most common primary involved sino-nasal site is inferior turbinate. Septum, ethmoid sinus, and lacrimal sac were frequently involved in order. Most of patients are treated with surgery plus adjuvant radio therapy (n=16). Distant metastasis was detected with 6 patients. Overall 5-year survival rate was 43.8% and the survival rate was not statistically correlated with age, sex, symptom duration, involved site, tumor size and stage. 5 year survival rates of surgery or non-surgery, as primary treatment, are not statistically different. °á·Ð:Sino-nasal mucosal melanoma of our institution is 43.8% of 5 year survival rate. As treatment modality, surgery plus radiotherapy is mostly common. Between the treatment modalities, there is no statistically effective primary therapy for sino-nasal mucosal melanoma. |
