Dystrophic calcification is the deposition of calcium occuring in degenerated or necrotic tissue without abnormal calcium and phosphorous metablism. It usually occurs in injured tissue and thought as a reaction to tissue damage. This is a report of a 83-year-old patient with pathologically confirmed dystrophic calcification in the labyrinth after simultaneous cochlear implantation and labyrinthectomy for rehabilitation of the deaf ear caused by prolonged malignant otitis externa with skull base osteomyelitis.
