¸ñÀû: Cauliflower ear, characterized by thickening, irregular projection
of the anterior ear and distortion of the auricular outline, is
the result of bleeding or abscess between the perichondrium and
the cartilage, followed by scarring and regeneration of cartilage
from the perichondrium. Surgical correction of an established
cauliflower ear is one of the most challenging problems in ear
reconstruction. However, only a few reports have clarified the
dissection of an established cauliflower ear in detail. Here the
authors present cases of cauliflower ear that were treated using
various techniques, and analyze the treatment outcomes. ¹æ¹ý:Seven cauliflower patients underwent surgery to restore normal
contour of the auricle. Cosmetic results, patients satisfaction, ease
of technique and the occurrence of the complication were analyzed. °á°ú:Patients age ranged from 25 to 52 years and the mean age was 34. All
of the cases occurred unilaterally. Four cases were due to the
perichondritis with abscess, and the remaining three cases were due
to chronic irritating trauma. Five cases underwent sculpturing of the
distorted cartilage with an addition of conchal cartilage to enhance
the helical contour. In two cases we reconstructed the helix using
the costal or nasal septal cartilage. One case developed otohematoma
at two weeks after the surgery. °á·Ð:The appropriate reconstructive technique for the treatment of
cauliflower ear must be carefully selected according to the cause,
type and degree of deformity and the availability of donor tissue. |
