¸ñÀû: Profound sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) shows poor improvements even after steroid treatment and thus simultaneous versus sequential oral and intratympanic steroid (ITS) have been tried. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of simultaneous and sequential oral and ITS in patients with profound SSNHL. ¹æ¹ý:Fifty profound SSNHL patients (> 70 dB HL) were included. Simultaneous group (n=27) received oral (48mg/d methylprednisolone for 9 days and tapering) and ITS (4 times) for 2 weeks. Sequential group (n=23) was treated with oral steroid for 2 weeks and ITS for another 2 weeks sequentially. PTAs were compared at pre-treatment, 2 weeks, 1 and 2 months after treatment. Outcomes by modified AAO-HNS criteria and Siegels criteria were also compared. °á°ú:According to the AAO criteria, simultaneous group showed complete recovery (CR) in 3, partial recovery (PR) in 4, slight improvement (SI) in 11 and no improvement (NI) in 6, and sequential group showed CR in 6, PR in 1, SI in 8, NI in 7 at 2-weeks. By Siegel's criteria, CR, PR, SI, NI was 2, 4, 5, 14 in simultaneous group and 6, 1, 5, 10 in sequential group respectively. According to AAO criteria, CR, PR, SI, and NI was found in 5, 4, 15, and 3 of simultaneous group, and 6, 2, 13, and 2 of sequential group at 2-month. By Siegel's criteria, CR, PR, SI, and NI was found in 3, 6, 10, and 8 of simultaneous group, and 6, 3, 5, and 9 of sequential group, respectively. There was no significant difference between two groups according to both criteria. The improvement of PTA and SDS at 2-week were 23.3, 19.8 in simultaneous group and 30.6, 36.8 in sequential group, and at 2-month were 39.6, 37.0 in simultaneous group and 41.4, 47.9 in sequential group, which was not significantly different. °á·Ð:Simultaneous and sequential oral and ITS treatment showed complete or partial recovery in 33%/33% and 35%/39% in profound SSNHL. Simultaneous or sequential steroid treatment can be performed with similar expectations. |
