¸ñÀû: It was reported that the application of preoperative test-band
helps predicting postoperative hearing outcomes and BAHA intenso
showed higher functional gain than Sophono alpha 1. We wanted to
compare the functional gain using head-bands with new models (BAHA
BP 110 POWER and Sophono alpha-2 MPO) in induced unilateral
conductive hearing loss model using ear plugging. ¹æ¹ý:An earplug was inserted in right ear canal of 30 normal subjects
with normal hearing and tympanic membrane, inducing unilateral
conductive hearing loss. A test-band using BAHA BP 110 POWER
(BAHA group) and Sophono a-2 MPO (Sophono group) was placed on
the right mastoid tip and left ear was masked. Pure-tone was
performed and word discrimination score (WDS) was obtained with
the sound of 40 and 60 dB HL. BAHA BP 110 POWER was set to
generate maximal gain, and Sophono a-2 MPO was set to show
maximal level of gain while assuring minimal feedback. Four-
frequency functional gains (FG), FG at each frequency and WDS at
40 and 60 dB HL of both groups were compared. °á°ú:The 4-frequency air-conduction thresholds in normal ears and induced hearing loss model were 3.52.7 and 37.67.11 dB HL. Functional gain (14.55.9 dB) of Sophono group was significantly higher than that (8.415.14 dB) of BAHA group (p<0.001). Regarding each frequency, Sophono group showed statistically significant higher FG than BAHA group at 1, 2, 3 kHz (P<0.001), however no significant difference was shown at 0.5 kHz. The WDS (85% and 98%) at 40 and 60 dB HL of Sophono group were significantly higher than those (73% and 95%) of BAHA group (p<0.001). °á·Ð:Although BAHA intenso showed higher functional gain than Sophono
alpha 1, Sophono alpha-2 MPO showed higher functional gain than
BAHA BP 110 POWER. This study provides instrumental profile of
each hearing devices and may support clinicians in choosing the
adequate hearing aids in terms of clinical practice. |
