Development of Hearing Screening Questionnaire for Medical Check-up of Korean Infants and Children

¸ñÀû: It has been a nation-wide practice to execute hearing related questionnaire spanning over seven occasions for auditory capability of infants in our country.There was attempted trials of establishing measurement of sensitivity and extraordinariness of questionnaire by defining diagnostic code of questions.However, it was never ascertain whether actual input of hearing-related diagnostic code serves the intended hearing impairment.Now Korean audiological society is researching and developing entirely new type of hearing related questionnaires. ¹æ¹ý:There has been wide variety of revisions and amendments of hearing-related questionnaires by means of aggressively devoted efforts of multi-organizations during the period of March to August in 2014.Preliminary questionnaires consisting of ten topics was selected in close consultation and collaboration with a number of auditory science specialist and as a result of research of related papers.Hearing-related questionnaires was executed with parents of infants with normal auditory capability and another group of infants with bilateral hearing impairment above 40 dB. Out of this practice, finalized questionnaires have been selected in terms of awareness development and out of close consultation with group of expertise of auditory science. °á°ú:There has been establishment of sensitivity and extraordinariness of questionnaire against seven groups aging between zero to six years old infants of normal and hearing-impaired groups and five preliminary topics established. °á·Ð:Even though hearing questionnaires cannot substitute hearing test, it is still construed that the continuous improved revision and amendments of questionnaires in terms of awakening development will be able to contribute elevation of sensitivity and extraordinariness of questionnaire and will lead to take the role of supplementing the hearing test.
