목적: The face is a crucial source of information to recognize a person's identity. It has been known that the most promising candidate region of recognizing for the identity of a face is right anterior temporal lobe. Such a hemispherical laterality can effect on recognition of humans face predominantly by one side.In this study, we investigate humans predominance of side for recognizing humans face by hybrid hemifacial photo and questioned whether the right or left side of the facial paralysis is same in their stressful emotion and quality of life, under the influence of one-sided recognition of humans face 방법: To investigate predominance of one side for recognition of humans face, normal 100 participants (right-handed97, left-handed3, right brain dominance56, left brain dominance44) were answered to questionnaire including hybrid hemifacial photo. To estimate difference of the stress and quality of life between right and left sides of facial paralysis, the 100 patients(right side50, left side50, not including traumatic facial nerve paralysis) were answered to questionnaire including stress index test and quality of life with SF-36 Korean version. 결과:Regardless of the right handed or left handed, and right brain dominance or left brain dominance, the proportion of predominance of the right side in the recognition of humans face was larger than left side (71% versus 12%, neutral17%). Stress index of the patients with right-sided facial paralysis was higher than left-sided(4.3 versus 3.5), and also SF-36 of right-sided patients was lower than left-sided(119.07+-15.24 versus 123.25+-16.48, total score166). 결론:Universal superiority of the right side in the recognition of humans face make worse in psychological mood or social interaction to the patients with right-side facial paralysis than left-sided. This revealed information is a helpful to clinicians in that differed from other disease, the facial-paralytic patients should be treated together with psychologic and social aspect.
