¸ñÀû: The patients who are actually buying hearing aids are less than
50% among the patients with moderate or severe hearing loss.
Clinically, patients with low speech discrimination or severe
high frequency hearing loss are more difficult to be satisfied
with hearing aids. The purpose of this study is to investigate
the buying rate according to possible related factors. Especially
we are interested in the configuration of hearing loss is related
to the purchase. ¹æ¹ý:151 patients who had hearing aids consultation because of hearing
loss from September to December 2014 were enrolled in this study.
We retrospectively reviewed medical records of these patients.
The patients were divided into 2 groups according to actual
purchase of hearing aids. We analyzed factors affecting actual
purchase between these 2 groups. The configuration of audiogram
was classified 6 categories according to Pittman and
Stelmachowicz(2003), which is sloping, rising, flat, U-shaped,
tent-shaped and other. And we picked patients who had steeply
sloping hearing audiogram and analyzed with purchase or not. °á°ú:Among total of 151 patients, 44 patients bought hearing aids and 107 patients did not buy hearing aids. There was no statistically significant difference in the configuration of audiogram between 2 groups. The pure tone average of buying-group was 61.3 dB and which was significantly higher than non-buying group patients(Independent T-test, P<0.05). Among 100 patients with sloping configuration of audiogram, 57 patients¡¯ audiograms were steeply sloping in configuration and these patients were categorized ski-slope group. The ski-slope group patients had lower buying rate 21.1% of hearing aids comparing non-ski-slope group(34.0%). °á·Ð:In conclusion, patients who bought hearing aids had more hearing
loss than the others. And the patients who had audiogram with
steeply sloping configuration were less likely to buy hearing aids. |
