A 13-year-old girl presented with a 2-year history of an asymptomatic preauricular nodule. On physical examination, a non-tender mass was soft and mobile. It was having a major axis of 4 cm. There was no cranial nerve deficit. MRI of the neck demonstrated it was seen as intramasseteric heterogenous mass lesion, slightly hyperintense relative to skeletal muscle on T1WI and hyperintense on T2WI. MRI T1-weighted with gadolinium contrast demonstrated peripherally enhancing mass. A percutaneous aspiration biopsy of the lesion was negative (class II). The mass had developed gradually at 4 years. Therefore, a tumor excision was performed under general anesthesia. Intraoperatively, the tumor was buried within the left masseter muscle. The lesion was a well circumscribed and lobulated mass measuring 67 ¡¿ 49 ¡¿ 48 mm. Cut section was film, yellowish with irregular black areas of hemorrhage. Frozen section showed the mass was diagnosed as schwannoma. Histological examination gave the diagnosis of schwannoma consisting of both Antoni types A and B. The patient has been doing well without neurologic sequelae after the operation.
